Official Statement: Fire at Open Hearth Inn

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [Trenton, Maine] — March 30, 2026

Early Saturday morning, a structural fire occurred at the historic Open Hearth Inn. While we are devastated to report that the Main Inn building is a total loss, our primary focus remains the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.

Incident Summary

The fire began in the early hours of Saturday, March 28. Thanks to an early alert from guest pets on-site, the occupants of the Main Inn were able to evacuate safely. There were no injuries reported. Local fire departments, led by the Trenton Fire Department and supported by several surrounding towns, arrived on-site at approximately 3:00 AM to contain the blaze in sub-freezing temperatures.

Current Operations & Rebuilding Intent

The Open Hearth Inn property consists of the historic Main Inn, several cottages, and a lodge. While the Main Inn was destroyed, the cottages and lodge remain intact.

Our team is currently assessing the damage and coordinating with local authorities. It is our firm intent to reopen the cottages for the upcoming season and to begin the process of rebuilding the heart of our property. We are incredibly proud of our staff, who arrived on-site immediately to assist first responders and ensure our guests were safely relocated to our sister property, Isleview.

Supporting Our First Responders

Many have reached out asking how they can help. In lieu of donations to the Inn, we ask that contributions be made to the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department. These courageous volunteers fought the fire for hours in freezing conditions, and we are forever grateful for their service.

Information for Guests

We are currently in the process of contacting all guests with upcoming reservations in the Main Inn to arrange relocations or provide full refunds.
